The lecture series continues as we team up with the Society of Performing Arts to host award-winning recording artist Damien Sneed.  Inspired by the words and actions of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Sneed’s We Shall Overcome stops through Houston on February 9th and showcases repertoire from across the African American music traditions that electrified generations of civil rights activists and defenders with interwoven spoken word from Dr. King’s recorded speeches. The production ties together a living lineage of music and culture that includes traditional gospel, modern gospel, classical, jazz, Broadway, and spirituals.  He joins us on February 10th  following this performance to discuss the creative process behind his latest work.
