New Signs Signal Economic Development in Houston Southeast
Houston Southeast is a mecca for cultural diversity garnering pride in the Houston community for almost a decade.
Increased business to business partnerships, economic growth and stabilization have lead to district leaders developing a comprehensive multi-level mobility action plan to revitalize and serve as a guide for major transportation investment.
An integral part of the mobility plan includes the installation of 52 Houston Southeast branded street signs along major economic corridors. The newly designed signs help business owners, residents and visitors navigate the district with ease and have been placed along Almeda Rd., Old Spanish Trail, Scott St., Emancipation Ave., Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., and Griggs Rd.
“The completion of the 18-month project highlights the district’s goal of economic development, public safety, and the preservation of community history,” states Dr. Robert Muhammad, Transportation & Local Mobility Chairperson for Houston Southeast. “The street signs enhance the community footprint by reinforcing the economic development taking place throughout the district.”
Houston Southeast is one of the fastest-growing, economically diverse communities in Houston and the signs align with communities goal of creating a sense of place while preserving the history in a safe environment.
The newly developed 7 Places, 1 Place to Be brand campaign focuses on the important role each area plays in fostering the development of a historically strong district as identified within the boundaries of Houston Southeast. The signs are a source of pride and symbolize the tremendous growth of business and enterprise in Houston Southeast. We invite you to take a picture with the new signs and post to #HOUSoutheast Facebook or Twitter to share your pride of our community.
