Big progress is coming to the Columbia Tap Trail

Ahead of the World Cup, 50 new lights will be installed along the trail, with additional lighting improvements to follow. This is an important public safety, connectivity, and quality-of-life investment for one of Houston’s key community corridors.
The Columbia Tap Trail connects neighborhoods, schools, parks, small businesses, transit, and cultural destinations.
Improved lighting will help make the corridor safer, more welcoming, and more usable for residents, families, workers, students, and visitors who move through and rely on it every day.
This progress is possible because of strong partnership and coordination among the Greater Southeast Management District, East Downtown Management District, Council Member Dr. Carolyn Evans-Shabazz, Council Member Joaquin Martinez, the City of Houston, Mayor John Whitmire, the Houston-Galveston Area Council, and the Federal Transit Administration.
A brighter, safer, and more connected Columbia Tap Trail is on the way.
