PUBLIC MEETING
REGARDING THE EMANCIPATION PARK
AND COMMUNITY CENTER – PHASE V PROJECT

Notice is, hereby, given that a public meeting will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025, at 12:00 P.M. at One Emancipation Center, located at 3131 Emancipation Avenue, 2nd Floor, Houston, TX 77004 to discuss Emancipation Park and to receive public input on Emancipation Park and Community Center – Phase V Project (CIP# T-0712).

On December 11, 2024, Houston City Council approved TIRZ #7’s FY 2025 Budget and FY 2025-FY 2029 Capital Improvement Plan which allows TIRZ #7’s Board of Directors to provide funding to plan, design and construct/install additional park improvements at Emancipation Park to promote economic development and tourism in the oldest public park in the State of Texas built on land acquired by former enslaved African Americans while simultaneously serving the immediate neighborhood. Phase V improvements may include several park elements, one of which is to recognize the park’s historical legacy, significant contributions, neighborhood leadership, economic development, and revitalization efforts in the City of Houston and Third Ward.
